About me

Hi, I’m Tim Hillmer – a freelance VFX Generalist and Motion Designer based in Northern Germany.

My professional journey began with a background in IT: I trained as an IT specialist for system integration at
OTTO, where I developed a solid understanding of infrastructure and workflows. But my passion for visual
storytelling quickly pulled me in another direction.

Over the years, I’ve worked as a Motion Designer at PICTIMA, moved into Compositing at 27 Kilometer
Entertainment, and grew into a VFX Generalist, handling everything from 3D to pipeline logic. A brief return to
the tech world brought me to NHB as an IT System Engineer – a role that further sharpened my technical edge.
Eventually, I landed back in post-production at ACHT GmbH, where I focused fully on high-end visual effects.

Today, I work as a freelancer, collaborating with studios, agencies, and production companies. Whether remote or
on-site, I bring together technical precision and creative thinking – from look development to final delivery.

My focus: VFX, 3D, motion graphics, compositing, and smart pipelines – especially for commercials and digital
media.
